Congrats to Preeya and Her Fawn

Last night was the Gauge opening at ArtJail. Preeya's little fawn was displayed in the center of the room. I think Colleen said it best when she said "That deer would be so happy right now if it knew about this."

Preeya found the skeleton pieces while a bunch of us were in upstate NY for a weekend. While on a hike we spotted the skull and Preeya proceeded to dig up every last piece. The poor little deer died under a tree and you can imagine how scary it must have been for the poor little thing. Preeya poured years of love into re-building the skeleton and now it's on display as a work of art. I'm so proud of her - it was an incredible process.

Skeletons in Their Kitchen

Abe and I went over to Preeya and Dave's place Friday night for dinner, drinks, stand-up comedy, karaoke, and good times. It was a majorly fun-filled evening. I feel like we were all talking and laughing in double-speed all night long.

In previous posts I've mentioned Preeya's long-term project of piecing together a deer skeleton that she excavated from the woods about 5 years ago while a group of us were having Girl Weekend upstate.

Well, she finally finished the project and I would like to give her a big, huge CONGRATULATIONS because not only is it a major accomplishment to piece together a large animal skeleton (c'mon, who does that for fun?), but she actually hand-crafted the missing bones (all the darker pieces).

Preeya's skeleton will be shown in a gallery in November. I'll post all the details here when it gets closer.

A couple months ago we cared for Preeya & Dave's terminally ill hamster while HEXA was on tour. They showered us with gifts to show their thanks. It wasn't necessary at all, but the gifts were really fun.

Abe hasn't taken off his ultra-rad flying disc satchel in 72 hours.

Preeya made chicken enchiladas late-night and it was goooooooooooooood.

Happy Birthday, Lauren!

Tonight we celebrated Lauren realllll good in honor of her 29th birthday.

Lindsey blindfolded Lauren at her house, spun her around for good measure, and then walked her about a 1/2 mile to Carmine's Pizzeria - where 10 of us were anxiously waiting.

[note the man curiously looking at the blindfolded girl]

[note the man not interested in us cheering and yelling]

Once the blindfold was off we showered her with jewels and accessories.

Then we ate a butt-load of pizza.

[Penne a la vodka pizza. A bit too much starch for my taste.]

After the pizza party we kicked it up a notch and got classy over at The Richardson.

Allyson's 30th!

This weekend I went to Boston to celebrate Allyson's 30th birthday. Allyson and I have been best friends for 17 years and when we were about 20 or 21 we decided when we turned 30 we would leave our kids home with our husbands and go out for a big night in NYC.

Bless us, we didn't have a clue what it would be like to be 30. The closest we are to that prediction is that I live in NYC and Allyson just got engaged like a month ago.

We started off the day with Allyson's family, fiance and 2 other best friends at the Olive Garden. Mmmm, bread sticks!

Paws' gift to Allyson was a box of receipts. He's such a thoughtful cat.

Allyson's mom makes the most amazing carrot cake in the world.

Allyson is a micro-manager when it comes to her b-day.

A toast to Allyson!

Carrot cake down! Don't worry, we scooped it up and had ourselves a late-night snack.
