Chicken Train
February 10, 2009 You would think NYC, one of the largest cities in the world, would have good radio stations, but we don't. There are a few awesome ones...WNYC, WFMU, CBS FM, Q104, 88.9, but it's slim pickin's if you want sing-along tunes. So imagine our joy when we hit two AWESOME stations in Costa Rica: 93.9 IQ Radio and 95.5 Radio Dos. I mean, we're talking hours of serious hits - major road trip material.
Our first day in Costa Rica, when we made the 4+ hour drive to Quepos, we were at about hour #3 and stuck in traffic trying to cross a bridge. This song came on the radio and after a couple minutes we realized that we were all singing along. At the time we thought the chorus was "I'm a train, I'm a chicken train, chicken train, I'm a chicken train...". At least that's what I thought it was. For the rest of the week whenever we would go get food from Chicken on the Run I would sing this song.
So anyway, we find the video for the song on YouTube and two things:
1.) The song is by Albert Hammond... the son of my favorite Stroke, Albert Hammond Jr.
2. The lyrics are "I'm a train, I'm a chicka train..." chicka as in "chooga" or "choo choo" train. Whatever.
