I'll Take It All!

These photos from Kate Spade's Fall 2009 line have been circulating the blogs, but I can't resist posting them as well. They're are styled so nicely and the Zoey Deschanel look-alike model only makes the whole outfit cuter. Now if Forever 21 would just get on board so I can afford these looks...

Hello, Again.

Hello, again. I'm back from extermination land. Our apartment is probably one of the most sterilized, chemical-filled homes in Greenpoint at the moment. Our building is seriously disgusting and falling apart before our eyes.

Also, this morning I woke up at 7:30am to a car accident in front of our building. My friend mentioned that our location is a "bad vibe zone", which never occurred to me, but it so true. Just the other night there was a fight across the street on the sidewalk - a mob of people and someone with a baseball bat breaking up the fight. In the three years that we've lived in this apartment I think we've probably called 911 at least 10 times. I don't think I had ever even called 911 before moving into this place. We've seen 5 or so car accidents, too many brawls and fights to count, and passed out drunk people on the sidewalk (like in the dead of winter and we weren't sure if they were alive). So yes, I can not wait to move in a couple months. I have loved living in this apartment, but it is time to start fresh.

And when I move I want to buy myself this piece of artwork from Famille Summerbelle:

Serenity Now

Going to take a break for a couple days on the ol' blog. There's so much going on right now that I'm close to a melt-down. Our building is being fumigated, which means we have to wash everything we own and basically move out for a day - move out of an apartment we've lived and worked in for 3 years, I had the flu this weekend, and on top of that I'm trying to buy a house...oh yeah, and I have a full-time job that requires brain power. Just a few things going on...

Beds. Beds. Beds.

Abe and I are going to be moving in a couple months no matter what. When we move we need to get a new bed frame and mattress. The good news is that wherever we move we will definitely have more space (I know this because it is a requirement) and won't have to use under the bed for storage. You hear that, Paws? You get under the bed allll to yourself!

This is what I want in a new bed:

  • No box spring needed
  • Modern, simple style
  • No foot-board (per Abe's request)
  • Around $300 (for the frame)
  • No headboard - or it has to be the "right" one (I plan on making a headboard)
  • Made from eco-friendly/renewable materials (Ikea could be the exception)
