Pretty Plants

Oh wow, now we're really having a problem. I think I drank too much coffee and that's why I can't concentrate this morning.
Anyway, I was just zooming around the kitchen and it struck me how adorable all my plants look today. The sun is coming through the windows and it looks so pretty. Plus, I received a ton of cut flowers yesterday, which are really sprucing up the place. Cut flowers make me feel like a millionaire.

Shelves in kitchen - this is a succulent gardenscape work in progress.

Shelf in bathroom above the toilet.

Little baby squirrel just having a snack under the shade of the mushroom.

Abe worked an event Thursday night and he got home at about 2:30 and decorated the bedroom with about 10 stems of orchids and a huge bunch of tulips! I woke up in the morning and couldn't believe it. (Don't mind the mess on my dresser...it's impossible to keep it uncluttered).

Then, my friend/co-worker, JJ, gave me 10 huge sunflowers yesterday. I got into work and he had left them at my office door. He said he wanted my birthday weekend to start off right. Awww...so sweet.

New Website In the Works

My focus is all over the place this morning. I keep jumping around between vacuuming/cleaning, making my ATC's for the Cat Lover ATC swap I'm hosting, tending to my live cat, Paws, who will not stop crying, and working on my website (and blogging).

I enjoy working on my website and learning new programs and codes, but it is sooooo time consuming. My cousin and I have been trying to get together so he can help me plug-in a new way to view photos on my website, but we haven't been able to connect so I'm just trying to get everything else done. I really need to take new photos too, but that's a whole huge project in itself.

I hope I can get the new site up next week - with or without the fancy new photo viewer. It doesn't look too different, but there are some nice enhancements like my new drop-down menu bar, which saves me a lot of space.

Pre-Party Planning

My 100th post! I feel like I should do something special, but I was actually coming on here to talk about pre-party planning.

Last night Colleen and I (and Abe) got together to pick out songs to play at the birthday party after the bands are done and its time for us to have a good old fashioned DANCE PARTY! We had 4 Apple laptops on the table - it was a little obscene.

We spent most of the night just fooling around and Abe giving iBook lessons to Colleen. We also managed to spend an hour researching Dan Smith of the ubiquitous fliers seen around NYC that read "Dan Smith Will Teach You Guitar". We found a great article written by someone who actually took a lesson from him, and we also found a weird, earnest song someone wrote and performed that references him.

I got a manicure yesterday and it matched the cherries we were eating perfectly.

We at over 2 pounds of cherries last night.

Gemini's Quadruplets

Happy 29th Birthday, Margot!!!!!! We're celebrating her birthday on Sunday with cocktails and Super Soakers at the new waterfront park on N. 7th and Kent in Williamsburg. Cupcakes for all!

gemini's twin - chanterelle

Tomorrow is the big birthday bash for me, Colleen and Maria. We all have June birthdays (mine isn't till the 12th), so we decided to throw a group party so that we could have all our friends together and party like we used to when we were young, single and able to drink for 12 hours straight. So, we have a big venue rented out in Manhattan, 3 bands lined up (included HEXA - the band Maria is in), and we're picking up 4 kegs and 6 boxes of wine to fuel the fun.

Should be fun waking up Sunday morning to go to rehearsal for my Grand Street Community Band concert at 1pm. Thank god this isn't a super serious band and I should be able to handle it no matter how hungover/tired I am. At least I have Margot's picnic party to looked forward to later in the day.

Sex and the City

Last night I went to see "Sex and the City" the movie with two of my galfriends. We went to the theater on 13th and 3rd at 8:30 and there must have been 4 or 5 additional screens in the theater playing the movie besides the showing we went to. We got there at 8 and we had to wait in line in the coordidor. When we finally got in and sat down the seat filled up in 2.0 seconds. Luckily we were at the beginning of the line and got seat right away.

Waiting for the movie to start was interesting. Margot and I were saving a seat for Meredith and we had to fight a crazy, drunk bag lady so that she wouldn't sit in Mere's seat. She kept telling us "I'll get up when she gets here."

We saw a couple awesome chick flick previews - "Mama Mia" and "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II" and "He's Just Not Into You". And then the movie started. Hello! I loved it! The people that gave the movie horrible reviews obviously don't understand the SATC is supposed to be ridiculous and stupid and unbelievable. Hello, that's why it is so awesome. They're cartoons in fancy clothes. Anyway, I couldn't have asked for more and I highly reccommend seeing it (and sneaking in some beer or wine).

In other SATC news...everyone in NYC should pick up a copy of the Daily News today. There is an awesome spread by Piper Weiss (an extraordinarily talented writer, editor and cultural observer). With photos she cleverly points out that the Golden Girls may have more influence over Hollywood than anyone suspected.
