Girlfriendz

Last night I went out to dinner with my girlfriend fam (minus Meredith, but we talked about her a lot - all good stuff of course).

First we met at Snacky's on Grand St. in Williamsburg. It was Margot's idea and a damn good one. We just sat and chatted and made plans to go to Niagra Falls in April (?). Colleen and I are the "Vacation Chairs" for that trip so the pressure's on!

Colleen also brought me a new coat
! She has the same one in brown. I prefer a winter white and she knows it. The best part of the coat is the mock-3/4 length sleeves with the sweater sleeve extension. I love a sweater sleeve.

Did I tell you I got bangs? Yeah, sure did. I'm still getting used to them, but the best part so far is that it's like I have a whole new wardrobe. Everything looks different on me now.

Here's a weird picture of me that I took while driving right after I got the bangs.

Anyway, after dinner we took our asses over to Lenora's Way and had a few more beers and talked very loudly about gross things. The bar was pretty empty and a couple on a date was listening to our every word. We either helped make or break that date...verdict is still out.

Snood.

Family & Friends

My 2ooth post!

I haven't done much in the last week except hang out with the fam and Shrewsbury friends for Thanksgiving.

Eddie turned into a turkey maniac when he got his hands on the drumstick.

My friends and I have kind of outgrown the whole tradition of "going out to the Worcester bars to see everyone". I mean, it's not really necessary with Facebook, right?

But I did have a mini-reunion with my long-term Shrewsbury circle of friends on Friday night at David and Brittany's house. Brit was out of town and Dave was staying home while their daughter slept, but that didn't stop us from Zazzing it up.

On Saturday baby-sitters were lined up and we headed out for the big, bad Canal District in Worcester. Allyson and Shana drove in from Boston, which was super awesome.

For the past couple weeks we have been babysitting Junior. He's a good little guy. I like to scare Paws with him. You'd think it would work the other way around and a little pipsqueak hamster would freak out at the sight of a 30 lb tiger cub.

NYC Marathon 2008

Nothing wipes me out more than a day of watching other people run. Today was the New York City Marathon. Woo! Love it. I left the house and walked down Manhattan Ave as the handicap racers zoomed by in their wheelchairs. I instantly started to sob. The Marathon is an amazing event.

I met Meredith, Margot and Colleen in front on Fabiane's on Bedford Ave and we spent the next 2 hours yelling "Go so-and-so!" to people that ran by and had their names on their shirts. If someone was from Italy Meredith would yell "Yeah Italia!" and if they were from France she would yell "Viva la France!" Meredith received a lot of blown kisses today.

This girl's got the right idea - there's nothing like eating a box of Entenmann's donuts while watching people exercise.

When you are in the Hasidic section of Williamsburg you feel like you're in a different country...especially when you see signs like this. Did the Parks Dept. commission these to be made in Belgium or something? I am so confused by this illustration style. It's un-American.

One of the only bad things about the Marathon is all the waste.

Halloweekend 2008

What would people do on Facebook if Halloween didn't exist? Man, it just gives the ol' social networking site a giant kick in the pants as we head into the holiday season.

I was on the fence about doing Halloween this year, but once I heard there was a party a block from my house I was sold and couldn't wait for the night to start. We started out at Habitat and then headed over to the weird "mansion" party later in the night. It was a seriously fun, silly, hilarious night. I think the photos speak for themselves.

Halloweekend at Bernie's II

Undercover Housewife

Everyone wanted to pose with Bern.

And then on Saturday I went over Preeya and Dave's house for Halloween Part II. I decided to get artsy and use the sepia function on my camera.

Junior came as "4 Piece Chicken McNuggets". Real original, Junior. Reallll original.

The best part about hanging out with a bunch of musicians? Singing oldies with Freddie Mercury!

I went as Dave's college friend, Ivan Phisher. This wig/beard combo is getting a lot of action.

What Halloween party is complete without pigs in a blanket?!

Shrink-wrapped brains

Preeya and Dave have a little mouse problem, but Joe doesn't mind sharing.

Awww yeahhhh.

Bands, Gardens, Dorms & Fried Chicken

This weekend was action packed.

On Friday I went to a CMJ show at Mecury Lounge to see the band The Delta Spirit. Colleen recently got into them and she got a few of us together to go to the show. It was really, really fun - I think I have a new favorite band.

After the show Colleen, Abe, Katie, Greg and I went back to Greenpoint to the bar Matchless and Starr met up with us. When Abe and I left the bar we went over to Palace Fried Chicken and got chicken and French fries. It's pretty disgusting there, but sometimes it just hits the spot.

Saturday my aunt, uncle and cousin came into town to see my other cousin, Eddie (he lives down the street from me). They picked me up and we all went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. It was supposed to be a stormy day, but the rain held up and we had a great time enjoying the fall weather.

Saturday night was a big one - Piper's 30th birthday!! She held the party at her apartment in the city and the theme was "College Dorm". Kind of a vague theme, but once you saw the decorations and got everyone in costume the whole look really came together.
