Solid Summer Weekend

This weekend I didn't have any definite plans, which was a-ok with me. On Friday I started a big project in my office - building a window seat with storage.  This took up most of the day, but I stopped in the evening so Abe and I could go to Max's on Main for dinner, beer and live music.

On Saturday I kept working on my window seat, took Lily for a swim in the Hudson River, and prepped food for dinner.  We had our crew over Saturday night for grilled pizzas and s'mores over the fire pit!  Piper, Jess and I stayed up late performing the musical HAIR in my living room while Abe and Lily slept on the couch.

Sunday was the ultimate summer day.  Colleen, Piper, Jess, Neil, Kelly & I went to Lake Canopus for some beach fun and swimming.  I'm not a big lover of lakes (I like my water moving) and this lake was not one of my favorites for swimming, but it was still refreshing on a hot day.  After the lake we hit up a secret magical swimming hole at the base of a waterfall.

And finally, before settling down to the Jaycee Dugard first interview special on tv, Abe and I went to Poppy's for burgers and then to Zora Dora for a stawberry-mango-rhubarb popsicle.

Wedding Reception Wisconsin-style

I don't know how many of you spent the 4th with an Elvis impersonator, bluegrass band, Indian dancing, and Jagermeister, but Abe and I did and it was awesome.

DIY: Fauxtobooth Backdrop

I really wanted a photobooth at my wedding, but we just couldn't afford to have the real deal.  Instead, I built a backdrop from PVC pipes, vinyl and metallic tissue paper (these supplies cost about $50).  We bought 10 disposable cameras ($3 each when using a Michael's 40% coupon) and set it all up on an easel I got from Ikea ($15).  My dad made white board speech bubbles out of plywood and white board paint ($30).

We asked everyone to write us a note and take their picture.  I'm going to compile all the photos together so in the end it doubled as a photobooth and a guest book!

I'm Married!

Abe and I were married on June 4, 2011 in Beacon, New York!  The entire wedding weekend was amazing, but we also had a blast in the weeks leading up to the wedding with my sister, mom, and best friends making visits to help get everything ready.  I think I was a pretty relaxed bride with just a smattering of mini melt-downs and I am lucky to have the most supportive family, friends and new husband.  It is impossible for me to express what it felt like to have our family and friends in town for the wedding.  Worlds collided in the most incredible way and I couldn't have even dreamed of a more magical day.  Everyone said it was one of the best weddings they've ever been too, which makes me feel so totally awesome, but the thing is that it was such rad wedding because of all the people that were there!  All Abe and I did was bring people together and supply enough booze for the entire state of New York.

I'll be posting photos once I get them from our photographer.  For now, here is a montage video created by my sister Jaime and her boyfriend Ezra.  This video was created with so much love and it makes me so happy to watch it over and over again.
