Solid Brooklyn Hangtime

Last week involved non-stop hanging out in Brooklyn.  On Tuesday I went to the Etsy Success Symposium, which was uh-mazing.

That night I had a long overdue sleepover at Sibhan's lovely apartment.  I walked in the door and she presented me with red wine,  gave me a killer hair cut, and then we went to Habitat for wing night.

On Wednesday I had a nice catch-up dinner at Five Leaves with my cousin Rebecca where we shared lots of exciting news (!!) over ravioli and scallops.

Then, on Thursday, I went to Cafe Colette with Brooke and Colleen for an amazing dinner followed up with a long, very, very fun night at Brooklyn Winery.   We had a serious girl talk sesh over lots of wine and photo booth shoots.

Preeya & Davis as Husband & Wife!

My dear friends Preeya and Dave decided to leave New York and go on a world-wide adventure for at least the next year.  (Catch them on tour as HEXA - they play Feb 20 in China).

They planned on getting married next August, but in December they called me and said they were going to just get hitched right now.  Why wait?  Abe and I couldn't pull it together to fly out to San Francisco in January and it killed us to miss such a huge moment.  It sounded like the weekend was as special and magical as I imagined.

Pree & Davis -  Congratulations! Two people couldn't love each other more.  You will have the best life together.  We are so incredibly happy for you and also that your wedding was exactly what you wanted it to be.  We wish we could have been there to celebrate, but please know our hearts were there with you.  We can't wait to catch up when you're back in the States and we can all sit around, drink whiskey and talk about being husbands and wives.  Crazy!!!

All our love - Ryan & (G)Abe.

Weekend Full of Supers

Super cold.

Lily ate my mitten, but at least my thumb ended up with a hat.

Super crafting.

I was hired by BUST magazine to recreate some of their DIY projects. The projects will be photographed and used in a future book. I think I hit my crafting threshold working on this job.

Super stretching.

Lily inspired me to go to yoga this weekend and the only class scheduled was Advanced Vinyasa. Sure, I can handle that, I've done yoga for years... Fast foward to Sunday morning and I can't lift my body out of bed.

Superbowl.

This photo taken in 1997, this year I still stuck with the slogan: SQUEEZE THE CHEESE.

Bring on the Steven Tyler.

Last night I watched my first episode of this season's American Idol.  I lost interest after season 8 (Adam Lambert, hello, how can you top that?) but now that the judges include Steven Tyler I am back on board.

Steven Tyler mesmerizes me.  I'm fairly certain he is an alien.  A very talented, successful alien.  How else is it possible for someone to remain relevant in rock & roll for 40 years?  Maybe he just deserves it because he appears to  be a very nice man who makes awesome music.  He also seems like a very thoughtful judge who sees beauty in even the weirdest misfit.

Dare we hope for a live Aerosmith performance?  It probably won't be until we're in the top 10 at least.
