Pacific Northwest Vacation

Just spent the last week in Washington with Abe's family and friends. We had a few days in Olympia and then headed to the mountains for a camping trip/wedding, and then back west for more time in Olympia and a trip to Mount Rainier.

This guy ripped off a piece of salmon the size of its body, flew away with it, and came back for seconds and thirds.

Leavenworth, WA

There were several of these hanging around and they filled up multiple times with yellow jackets over the course of 4 days

Bryce (the groom) explaining the lay of the land to me.

And then Abe brought out the Tupac sneakers...

Tent City destroyed by wind.

The river. We were supposed to float down it, but it was like 5 degrees. I don't believe Eastern Washington is normally hot.

Tupac shoes continue to satisfy.

Abe gets a butter burrito from the 59er Diner.

Pre-wedding ceremony pontoon trip to Fish Lake.

Tent City in all its glory.

Over Here, Over in Times Square

Friday night Abe and I went to see the final performance of Over Here, Over There part of Manhattan Repertory Theater's Summer Fest series. The play was written by Vincent A. Apollo and starred our very own Ryan Fitzsimmons. Congratulations to Fitz!

We walked over the Pulaski Bridge to catch the 7 train.

Messy Baby

This clip is in my top 3 most memorable Sesame Street moments of all time. Yes, I keep such a list. I thought that baby was so gross, but I also kind of wanted to have chocolate all over my face [see my bucket list for the completed item: banana cream pie in the face].

Cookie Monster kind of sounds a little pervy, but let's not go there.

Greenpoint on a Summer's Eve

Enjoyed a book and a brewski at our new mini-park on Newtown Creek. It's no Hudson River Park, but we'll take what we can get over here in the GPT.

Sticker Hater / Polar Bear Lover

I was walking home from the train today and saw a girl using a pen to write something on a lamppost. When I got closer I saw that this is what she wrote:

She kept walking and then I saw her stop again to examine another lamppost.

Sure enough, she felt the need to deface yet another Culturehall sticker.

She stopped at the next lamppost, but that one was Culturehall sticker-free.

It happened one more time, but this time I was too close to take a photo. She was ripping down a Culturehall sticker. I really want to know what is going on - did she get fired from a job? Was she denied artist membership? Was she hired to deface the stickers on purpose?

We may never know...
