Bye-bye Chels and Sam :(

Two of my good friends moved out to the West Coast this week. Sam left on Saturday and Chelsea is leaving today to meet up with him. They are both California lovers so I know they are going to be super happy, but I'm going to miss them so much!

Last night Abe and I went over to haul out everything left in their fridge and kitchen cabinets. My pantry is fully stocked now - I'm lucky Chelsea is such a foodie.

Bye, Chelsea! I'll take good care of Terry the Terrarium. See you in San Fran in a couple months!!

2 Kewt

piglet squid courtesy of dailymail.co.uk

"The small squid, which is the size of a large orange, is normally found more than 320ft (100m) below the ocean surface, meaning little is known of its behaviour. Measuring just 4in in length the species has unusual pigmentation and acquired its name from its tuft of arms and tentacles, and rotund shape."

Weekend in The Berkshires

Went up to The Berkshires for the weekend and partook in a lot of outdoor activities and good times with Abe and some old friends and their families.

Traffic was a monster on Friday and 5 hours after leaving Brooklyn we were rewarded for the pain with this crazy lighting and view.

Saturday we hiked up Monument Mountain.

There were baby birds at the house - they flew the coop Sunday morning. They grow up so fast.

On Sunday we walked to the Norman Rockwell Museum. It was really awesome. My favorite part was visiting his studio - I wish I could steal his studio and move into it.

On our way back to NYC on Sunday I saw a sign for a labyrinth and swerved into a church parking lot ... not exactly my dream labyrinth, but was still pleasant and possibly a spiritual experience.

I promised Abe ice cream and had the Red Rooster as my goal - saw it on our way up and desperately wanted to go there. I am a sucker for old fashioned things.

Got back to Brooklyn and noticed that the former home of Manhattan Avenue's Subway is now Subs UR Way. Mmmm "Eat Fresher."?

Charlotte

Yesterday morning I opened up the window and leaned out to water the plants. Luckily I caught myself before I accidentally tore down Charlotte's web!

I let her keep it up for the day - I have to say, I love the idea - it's like having an extra screen on the window, but she's totally blocking me from accessing the tomato plants and catnip.

I moved her last night and felt a little sad when she slipped from my spoon out of my line of vision...but this morning guess who was back?!

I moved her again, hopefully she'll just scoot over a little bit out of the way of the window.

Caitlin Kuhwald Illustration

I stumbled upon the ETSY shop of Caitlin Kuhwald Illustration this weekend and was instantly in love. Her style is the perfect combination of weird and real and cartoon and cute.

I can't quite place my finger on it, but her work seems familiar and I feel like there was a book I loved as a kid that was maybe done in the same style. I wish I could have a Google in my brain so I could pull up things like that - random books I loved when I was 7.

You should also check out her website: http://www.caitlinkuhwald.com/

Suspend

Mom, if you're reading this, I think I'm going to use some of my birthday money to buy this print.

Ten Celebrities

This painting was done for More Magazine, about ten celebrities turning forty in 2008, but I think it would be really funny to have in your living room. Debra Messing never looked better.
