Wine & Cheese, Please

Last night I was going to meet Colleen and Lauren at a bar to have drink, but Colleen and I decided to make a pit stop at Dandelion Wines on Franklin St. because they were hosting a wine tasting of BOE wines.

This was not your normal liquor store tasting - they had 6 wines to taste and 2 giant vats of sangria with rum soaked fruit, and a huge spread of cheeses, meats and bread. We stayed there for over an hour and it was really fun, delicious, and free! That place is officially my favorite wine store.

When Lauren and I left the sunset was completely mental. The colors were soaking the streets.

Lauren and I then went over Piper's house and tried to watched Sleepless in Seattle, but ended up getting hooked on an awful Lifetime movie called Deadly Relations starring a young Gwyenth Paltrow. It was about a domineering dad addicted to collecting on insurance policies. It was pretty awesome and I highly suggest watching it on your next girls' night in - or on a hangover Sunday.

Dancing on the Rooftops

Last night Dennis' brother, Drew, invited us along to take in some culture and dance performances on a rooftop in Bushwick. Since Drew rarely leaves Manhattan for Brooklyn we knew this was something worth checking out.

The event was called HOOT and was described as "A concert that promises to be exhilarating! Set on a rooftop overlooking the Manhattan skyline, this must-see summer event features the work of LiNK! the Movement, Synthesis Dance Project, Pushing Progress, The Mantis Project, Molly Misgalla, Chris Hale, Jamie Jackson, vocalist- Bettina Sheppard, recording artist- Lijie and more! Come and enjoy an evening of diverse dance and live music, while sipping a cool beverage."

The first act had a gorgeous sunset as the backdrop and the second act was set against a purple and pink lightning storm along the Manhattan skyline - it was one of those things that make you say "Ah yes, now I remember why I live in NYC."

During intermission we watched someone eat a steak at their desk.

It got cold when the sun set.

R.I.P. Jacko

Poor Michael Jackson. I'm so sad he is gone, but I'm happy for him he went out quickly and quietly. People are remembering why he became so famous and forgetting about his "rough patch" later on in life. I'm remembering how I pretended he was my boyfriend when I was 5 years old. Love you, MJ. Say "Hi" to Bubbles for me.

Man, Gov. Sanford really lucked out, huh? Wiped him right out of the news.

No, Really - I'm Working.

I've been so busy lately that I've just let all my non-essential emails pile up so tonight I'm dedicating some hours into catching up and spending quality time internet shopping.

Polkadot Swimsuit
by Kimchi Blue at Urban Outfitters

I buy a bathing suit once every few years so I don't really mind dropping $88 on one. I wish I was cool with moving into the bikini zone, but my stomach ain't getting there anytime soon. Plus I like the extra protection from the sun - I burn within seconds of hitting the beach.

Mare necklace from the Lost at Sea collection
by Dannijo

This necklace is amazing. The stone is big and chunky and contrasts with the dainty chains. I want it draped on my neck immediately - once someone gives me $465.

This ring is soooo cool. Not just because the stone is gorgeous, but check out the underside of the ring - such a special touch:

White Porcelain Fruit Bowl

This bowl is so pretty and I know how much care was put into producing it. I am so impressed by how close she got the holes together - porcelain is so hard to work with.

Wedding Present Project

For the past 6 weeks in the ceramics studio I have been working on the wedding present for my cousin and her new husband.

It is a clock - I plan on glazing it white and then using gold leaf enamel to mark the numbers.

It just came out of the bisque fire so I decided to take a few snapshots to mark the progress and also juuuuust in case the glaze totally screws it all up (fingers crossed that will not be the case).
